COMMONSPACE COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

Introduction

Welcome to Commonspace! Our mission is to enable creators, brands, and businesses to build thriving communities with meaningful connections. These Community Guidelines help ensure Commonspace remains a safe, respectful, and valuable platform for everyone.

These Guidelines apply to all users across all parts of Commonspace, including your Profile, Profile Posts, Spaces you create or join, Channel discussions, comments, messages, and all other content and interactions on the platform and Mobile App.

These Guidelines are incorporated into our User Terms of Service. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination.

Our Values

Authenticity: Be yourself. Represent yourself honestly and build genuine connections.

Respect: Treat others with dignity. Diverse perspectives make our communities stronger.

Safety: Everyone deserves to feel safe. We don't tolerate threats, harassment, or harmful content.

Ownership: You control your data and relationships. Space Owners manage their communities responsibly.

Quality: Create value. Share content that enriches rather than exploits.

1. Be Authentic

1.1 No Impersonation

  • Don't impersonate other people, brands, or organizations

  • Parody and fan accounts must be clearly labeled as such

  • Don't create fake accounts or use someone else's identity

1.2 Be Honest

  • Don't spread misinformation or deliberately deceive others

  • Don't manipulate engagement through fake accounts or bots

  • Represent your products, services, and qualifications honestly

  • Disclose paid partnerships, sponsorships, and affiliate relationships

  • Disclosures must be clear and conspicuous — use #Ad or #Sponsored at the beginning of a post, not buried in hashtags (required under FTC guidelines for US-based content)

  • Clearly disclose when content is substantially AI-generated, particularly for realistic images, video, or audio of real people

2. Respect Others

2.1 No Harassment or Bullying

  • Don't harass, bully, intimidate, or stalk others

  • Don't engage in targeted attacks against individuals

  • Don't reveal others' private information without consent (doxxing)

  • Don't make threats of violence or harm

  • Don't encourage others to harass someone

2.2 No Hate Speech or Discrimination

  • Don't attack people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or medical condition

  • Don't promote or glorify hatred against any group

  • Don't use slurs or dehumanizing language

  • Don't promote extremist ideologies or hate groups

2.3 Respect Privacy

  • Don't share others' personal information without consent

  • Don't share private conversations or screenshots without permission

  • Respect people's boundaries and communication preferences

3. Keep Everyone Safe

3.1 No Violence or Dangerous Content

  • Don't threaten, incite, or glorify violence

  • Don't share graphic violence or gore

  • Don't promote terrorism or violent extremism

  • Don't provide instructions for weapons or explosives

  • Don't encourage self-harm or suicide

3.2 Protect Minors

  • Absolutely no sexual content involving minors (zero tolerance)

  • Don't engage in grooming behavior

  • Don't share content that exploits or endangers children

  • Report suspected child exploitation immediately

3.3 No Illegal Activities

  • Don't use Commonspace for illegal purposes

  • Don't sell or facilitate illegal goods or services

  • Don't promote or facilitate illegal drug use

  • Don't engage in fraud, scams, or financial crimes

4. Respect Intellectual Property

  • Only share content you created or have rights to share

  • Don't infringe copyrights, trademarks, or other IP rights

  • Don't share pirated content, software, or media

  • Credit original creators when sharing or referencing their work

  • Don't redistribute Members-only content from Spaces

  • If you believe your content has been used without permission, follow our DMCA procedure in the Terms of Service or email [email protected]

5. No Spam or Manipulation

  • Don't spam users with repetitive or unsolicited content

  • Don't use bots or automated tools to inflate engagement

  • Don't buy or sell followers, likes, or engagement

  • Don't post misleading clickbait or engagement bait

  • Don't abuse notifications or tagging features

  • Don't create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions

6. Appropriate Content

6.1 Adult Content

Spaces may permit adult content if the Space Owner has configured it as 18+ only and complies with applicable laws. Even in 18+ Spaces:

  • No content involving minors

  • No non-consensual content

  • No revenge porn or intimate images shared without consent

  • Adult content is NOT permitted on public Profiles or in general-audience Spaces

6.2 Sensitive Content

Use content warnings when sharing content that may be disturbing, including graphic imagery, detailed discussions of trauma, or other sensitive topics.

7. Platform Integrity

  • Don't attempt to hack, exploit, or compromise platform security

  • Don't use scrapers, crawlers, or data harvesting tools

  • Don't interfere with other users' access to the platform

  • Don't attempt to circumvent bans, suspensions, or restrictions

  • Don't reverse engineer or decompile our software

  • Report security vulnerabilities to [email protected]

8. Space Owner Responsibilities

If you create a Space, you have additional responsibilities:

  • Moderate your Space and enforce these Guidelines within it

  • Set clear community rules for your Members

  • Remove content that violates these Guidelines or your Space rules

  • Don't use your Space for prohibited business types

  • Protect your Members' data and privacy

  • Deliver on promises made to your Members

  • Respond to Member concerns and support requests

9. Prohibited Business Types

The following types of businesses or activities are not permitted on Commonspace:

  • Illegal goods or services

  • Unlicensed gambling or lotteries

  • Multi-level marketing or pyramid schemes

  • Counterfeit or stolen goods

  • Illegal drugs or controlled substances

  • Weapons or ammunition

  • Businesses on Stripe's restricted list

  • Investment schemes or unregistered securities

  • Services that violate intellectual property rights

10. Reporting Violations

If you see content or behavior that violates these Guidelines:

  • Use the Report feature available on posts, profiles, and messages

  • Contact the Space Owner for violations within their Space

  • Email [email protected] for serious violations

  • Contact law enforcement directly for emergencies

We review all reports and take appropriate action. Reports are confidential—we don't reveal who reported something.

11. Enforcement

We enforce these Guidelines consistently and fairly, using a combination of human review and automated tools.

Automated Filters: We use automated tools to prevent the use of inappropriate or offensive usernames during account creation and profile editing. If your chosen username is rejected, you may select a different one. If you believe a username was rejected in error, you may contact [email protected].

Content Removal: Violating content is removed
Warning: First-time or minor violations may receive a warning
Temporary Suspension: Account access suspended for a period
Permanent Ban: Serious or repeated violations result in permanent account termination
Space Termination: Spaces that consistently violate guidelines may be shut down
Legal Action: Illegal activity may be reported to law enforcement

Severe violations (child exploitation, terrorism, imminent violence) result in immediate permanent ban without warning.

12. Appeals

If you believe enforcement action was taken in error, you may appeal:

  • Email [email protected] within 30 days

  • Include your username and explanation of why the action was incorrect

  • Appeals are reviewed by a different team member than the original decision

  • We'll respond within 10 business days

13. Changes to Guidelines

We may update these Guidelines to address new challenges and keep our community safe. Material changes will be announced on the platform. Continued use constitutes acceptance of updated Guidelines.
